Study Guide Galatians 5 part 2: The works of the flesh and the fruit of the spirit  Hermeneutical Framework: Contextual and Cross-Scriptural Interpretation. Accurately discerning Paul’s intended meaning for pneuma requires a deliberate interpretive method that moves beyond a surface-level reading. English translations, particularly older versions like the King James Version, often apply a capitalized “Spirit” broadly, which can obscure the specific agent Paul intended in a given context. To penetrate this translational veil, a more rigorous hermeneutic is required, one grounded in contextual analysis and the principle of allowing Scripture to illuminate itself.  The foundational method that Shingi employs for this […]

[00:00:00] God doesn't need to bear fruit. We are the ones that need to bear fruit. Our recreated human spirit is the one that needs to bear fruit. [00:00:07] So now, contextually and scripturally, letting scripture, interpret scripture, we get to understand that, oh, the fruit of the Spirit cannot be capital letter S. [00:00:18] It is small letter S. [00:00:24] The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of. He is God. He doesn't need to search the deep things of God. He already knows them. Because he, he is God. Okay, so for the Spirit, there that has to be small letter S. [00:00:39] So it's small letter S referring to the spirit of a man, the human spirit, the recreated human spirit, your recreated human spirit. [00:00:47] Small letter S searches all things. Yea, the deep things of God or the deep things of the Spirit of God. [00:01:00] Don't forget it. It's not talking about the fruit of the Holy Spirit. [00:01:06] He's talking about the fruit of the recreated human spirit. [00:01:09] Hey. Hey. [00:01:11] Then he says, against such against the recreated human spirit, there is no law. Why? Because inside of the recreated human spirit, the born again child of God, the one in whom the Spirit of God dwells. Hallelujah. The one who belongs to Christ. Hallelujah. [00:01:27] There is love says, you are not in the flesh. Hallelujah. You are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit. If so be that the Spirit of God dwells in you. Hallelujah. [00:01:46] Does the Spirit of God dwell in you? You are not in the flesh. You are in the Spirit. [00:01:52] Joy is a part of your life. Joy is the fruit that your recreated human spirit produces. Love, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, humility, temperance. Hallelujah. This is your life. This is who you are. I've crucified the flesh because I am not in the flesh. I am in the Spirit because the Spirit of God dwells in me. [00:02:22] Yes. Welcome to Galatians Chapter 5, Part B. And we are back and we're going to continue with it. My name is Shingi and you know how we do it here on Shingi's Bible Commentary. [00:02:34] What we're going to do in continuation to Finish Galatians Chapter 5, we are going to go through from where we left off in part one. [00:02:43] I think we left off in verse 19, but you know, for context sake, I'm going to begin it from verse 16. [00:02:50] If you haven't listened to part one, please go and listen to it. It's powerful, it will bless you. So you can also get a picture and the context of what we will be talking about. [00:03:01] And also, if you haven't listened to part Galatians Chapter one, chapter two, Chapter three, Chapter four. You've got a lot of catching up to do, and you need to do it, you know, it will help you so much in your Bible study and your understanding of a lot of these concepts or Scriptures, you know, that you know, were or could be sometimes difficult to understand, you know. So Chinky's Bible commentary is just like there to help you supplement your, your study, your Bible study so you can understand some of these ideas that the Holy Spirit was communicating to us in the Scriptures. So you know how we do it. First, I read through the whole chapter, but I'm not going to do the whole chapter for part two. [00:03:47] I'm going to do it from verse 16 to verse 26, and then we're going to come back and do it verse by verse, like you know how we do it. [00:03:54] So from verse 16 it goes this. I say, then walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh, and these are contrary the one to the other, so that you cannot do the things that you would. [00:04:15] But if you be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. [00:04:20] Now the works of the flesh are manifest. Which are these? Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variants, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. Against such there is no law. And they that are Christ have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. [00:05:10] If we live in the spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. [00:05:14] Let us not be desirous of vainglory, provoking one another, envying one another. [00:05:21] Glory to God. Powerful, powerful, powerful. Now, verse by verse, let's go back to verse 16. Let's get into it and let's wrap this up. Let's wrap Galatians chapter five up. [00:05:32] Yes. [00:05:33] So the Apostle Paul here says this. I say, then walk in the Spirit. Oh, what does it mean, walk in the Spirit? We looked at it in part one. [00:05:42] Go and listen to it, but just briefly. We're going to get through it. [00:05:46] One of the things that I said to you is that there are these phrases that the Apostle Paul uses, and you'd have to now acquaint Yourself, especially in the King James Version, you now have to acquaint yourself with the terminologies that the translators used to translate from. From certain phrases that the Apostle Paul used in his communication regarding certain ideas, you know, that he was trying to communicate to us by the Spirit of God. Okay? And one of them is in the spirit. [00:06:16] All right, in the spirit. So there's a difference between in the spirit and with the spirit, okay? And now the context is what will now help you to understand what he was referring to. Which in the spirit is he talking about? Okay, so in the context of the whole body of the communication that the Apostle Paul usually used to use, as we have it translated in the King James Version, you'd find the phrases of. [00:06:46] With the spirit. In the spirit. [00:06:51] In the spirit of God. The spirit of God, okay? The Holy Spirit. All right? And the Spirit of man. So you'd have to now use the context to find out. And. And that Greek word which is translated spirit is the Greek word numa, okay? It's the Greek word muma. [00:07:13] So now, as you do your study now, you're part of the work that you have to do. You know, as you study, the context is you now need to now figure out by the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit will help you now for you to be able to understand and to figure out what spirit was he referring to, okay? Is it the Holy Spirit? Okay, because sometimes in some phrases, it's just translated pneuma, okay? And it's not pneuma, theos, which is spirit of God, okay? And some places it's hagios, pneuma, which is Holy Spirit. Okay? So now. And then in some places, it's just pneuma. All right? But in the context will now tell you whether he was referring to the Spirit of God or it's the Holy Spirit. Also, you tell you when he says hagios numa or pneuma theos, so that is the Spirit of God. And in some places, it's just pneuma. There's no hagios before it or theos at the other side of it. And now the context is. Now what will help you to figure out, okay, at this particular verse now, what is he referring to? And he uses them interchangeably, okay? So he uses these phrases interchangeably in some instances without really being specific as to whether he's talking about the human spirit, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God. [00:08:39] In some places, you would have it translated or just, you know, spirit, as in, you know, wind. You know, in some places you find it as wind. Okay. [00:08:52] Or just ghost even. All right, so that's why you'd find it some in, in the King James Version, says Holy Ghost. All right. Okay, so you now, now by the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, as you spend more time studying the scriptures, the Holy Spirit will now help you to see these things where you will now be able to see. Okay. Okay, which one? So now this portion of scripture From Galatians, chapter 5, 16 all the way to 26, he uses them interchangeably and at different times in different verses, he's referring to different things. In one point he's referring to the Spirit of God. In another point he's talking to. He's referring to the recreated human spirit. So now you now have to interact with. Guys. [00:09:37] There is something that is called spiritual understanding. There's something that is called spiritual intelligence that the Holy Spirit gives you as you fellowship with the Spirit of God and as you fellowship with the, with the, with the word of God being filled with the Holy Spirit, he gives to you. It's a thing, all right, that the Spirit of God wants to give to God's children that he has for God's children that will now when will enable you to understand these things? [00:10:04] Okay, like as we're going to go through now, you, you know, when I, when I, when I show you this thing, you're going to be like, no, there's no way. [00:10:12] Shinge. How did you get, how did you, how did you come up. [00:10:16] How did you get this? All right. [00:10:19] Okay, you see, so if, if you desire to understand, the Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth. [00:10:27] Remember what Jesus says when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he shall guide you into all truths. And it says, and he shall teach you all things. [00:10:36] So he gives you the spirit of understanding. He gives you the spirit of wisdom, knowledge and understanding. You can know that. Oh, this is what is happening here. Like, let me show you. Now, you probably have never seen or read this portion of scripture in the way that I'm going to read it to you and explain it to you in this way. [00:10:55] Okay, so now let's go. So here it says this. I say, then walk in the spirit. All right, so you'd find that phrase in the Spirit. Okay, so what is he talking about when he says in the Spirit, walk in the Spirit. [00:11:12] He's not, he's not referring to walking in the recreated human spirit, or maybe he's alluding to that, but that what is. Because he's saying inside, you're in the Spirit. Okay, we'll look at other scriptures to see what he could be or he would be referring to when he says in the Spirit, okay? [00:11:34] And then verse 17, he says that for the flesh lusts against the spirit. Now what spirit is that? [00:11:41] Is that the Holy Spirit, or is that the recreated human spirit? [00:11:46] Or what spirit is he referring to here? Because he doesn't say hagios numa or hagios theos, he just uses the word pneuma. So now the context of what he now begins, if you now flesh it out to you to understand that, oh, this is what he's comparing here. [00:12:09] He's comparing. [00:12:12] He's comparing, let's say apples and let's say another fruit you can compare apple with probably we can say with oranges, okay? Those are fruits. So you can compare. There's a basis for comparison there. But then you can't compare apples with stones, okay? Because they are different. A stone is not a fruit. A stone is something else. [00:12:43] There are different types of stones that you can compare because they are of the same, all right? [00:12:48] They are not fruits, okay? So now your basic understanding of the things that he now begins to compare here when he's trying to explain to us what the flesh is and what the spirit is, would now inform us, would give us an informal formed understanding of what he was comparing here. What is. Which spirit is he referring to? Is it the spirit of God or is it the recreated human spirit that is filled with the spirit of God? Those are two different things. [00:13:21] Okay? [00:13:22] So let's. Let's get back into it and I'll show you some scriptures as well. To. To. To. To show us. [00:13:28] That will help us, to get us, to give us a better understanding of what he was referring to here. [00:13:36] So he says, walk in the spirit, okay? And then you find First Corinthians, chapter 14. When, when you. When you read from verse 14 where he says, I will pray. [00:13:47] If I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is untrue. Verse 15, he says, what is it then? I will pray with the spirit. So there's. With the spirit. Oh, that's something else, right? I will pray with the spirit. [00:14:02] What spirit is he referring to here? You'd find when you read it, study it contextually, he's talking about the recreated human spirit, okay? But the word there is the spirit, all right? The spirit, which is just pneuma. [00:14:15] Okay? So because here, when it says my spirit. My spirit. So now he's referring to your recreated human spirit. So the context tells you that. Now this is Talking about the human spirit. And rightly put here, they put as cap it, the small letter S. [00:14:30] Okay, with the spirit. Small letter s in First Corinthians, chapter 14, from verse 15. [00:14:38] Cool. So now there it's clearly defined, okay? Now when they, when they came here, Galatians, chapter five. [00:14:46] Oh, they had some issues. Okay? There are some issues because now they say, walk in the spirit. Okay? So now which spirit is this? [00:14:55] Clearly it's not the recreated human spirit. Now he's talking about the. The Spirit of God. How do you walk? Now here you can see. And they rightly, they put it there, capital letter S. [00:15:07] Okay? [00:15:08] Keep that in mind. Don't forget that. And then remember when we. We spoke about. In part one, we spoke about Jude, verse 20, where it says, and you, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. But you, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the holy. Now here he says in the Hagios numa. So now here he tells you. Okay, but In Galatians, chapter 5 from verse 16, he just says the Spirit. He didn't say in the walk in the Hagios numa. All right, so he just says the spirit, but it's capital letter S. All right? Because what we say, that what is the Spirit? What is he referring to when he. When he uses that phrase? When the Apostle Paul used that phrase, a lot of the times he was referring to walking in the word. [00:16:03] You walk in the Spirit as you're walking in the word, because the word was given by inspiration of the Spirit of God. These are the words of the Spirit. [00:16:15] The epistles contain in them the words of the Spirit. The Scriptures are the words of the Spirit. So how do you walk in the Spirit? You walk in the Spirit by walking according to the words of the Spirit. And when we say the Spirit, we're talking about the Spirit of God. [00:16:34] Okay? All right, so praying in the Holy Spirit, praying in the Hagios Numa. [00:16:46] All right, Ephesians, chapter. Let's go to Ephesians, chapter six. I'll show you another use of that phrase again. Ephesians, chapter six. I read from verse 18. [00:16:57] Let me get there Quickly, quickly, quickly. Let's move quick. [00:17:01] We got quite a bit to get through. [00:17:04] Ephesians, chapter 6, verse 18, saying, praying always with all manner and supplication in the Spirit. Capital letter S in the Spirit. That's not with the Spirit. [00:17:18] Here he says, I'll my. He says, if I pray in an unknown tongue, my Spirit prays small letter S. Okay, here he says, praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, Remember? So now this in the Spirit with a capital letter S is obviously referring to the Spirit of God in the Spirit. And we said in the Spirit refers to in the Word of God. So when he says that, building up yourselves, beloved on your most holy faith, praying in the hagios pneuma. He's talking about praying in the Spirit. What is to pray in the Spirit? It means to pray in the word. [00:17:56] Praying in the Word, Taking the Word of God and praying it, taking the prayer points that were given by the Spirit of God in the epistles and praying them, praying in accordance with the types of prayer that the Word of God gives us, defines for us and use and applying them. [00:18:14] Coincidentally, speaking in tongues is also praying in the Spirit. You know, like when you look at it in a broader sense, because praying in the Spirit is also a part of praying in accordance with the Word of God. [00:18:28] You know, but they've leaned a lot of the teachers, you know, of the generation that I was raised in, they just locked it down to say it's referring to speaking in tongues, okay? But it's actually referring to a lot more. When you go to Ephesians chapter 6 from verse 18, you'd find that it's really talking about all manner, all manner of prayer, all right? And supplication in the Spirit. [00:19:03] So I was talking about in the Word, in accordance with the Word. Okay, in accordance with the Word, right. It says, on your most holy faith. [00:19:12] What does that mean? What is the most holy faith? Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. So when you take the Word of God and you begin to pray it, when you take the Scriptures and you begin to pray them, all right, you're praying the will of God. That is praying. [00:19:31] That is building. That is what helps you to build up yourself on your most holy faith when you take the Word of God and you begin to pray it. [00:19:42] So that is Jude, verse 20. [00:19:46] So it's not just talking about speaking in tongues. It's talking about praying in the Spirit with all manner of prayer and supplication in the Spirit. That is praying in the Word, that is praying in accordance with the Word of God. [00:20:01] Okay, I think you get that. Okay, so there's that phrase there in the Spirit, and then here. And then In Jude, verse 20, we see in the Holy Spirit in the hagios pneuma. And then In Galatians, chapter 5, verse 16, he says, Walk in the Spirit, capital letter S. So now he's talking about the Spirit of God. He's talking about Hagios numa here. So now, contextually, now you can now get to understand. Oh, so here it is, capital letter S. [00:20:24] And then it says, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh in the spirit. That means in the word of God. [00:20:32] Walk in the word of God, in the word of the Spirit of God. That's how you walk in the Spirit of God. And then it gets tricky. Now verse 17, for the flesh lusts against the spirit. Okay, so which spirit is now referring to? Is it the Spirit of God or is this another spirit? Now, is it the human spirit? [00:20:55] That's the next question. Then it says, and the Spirit against the flesh. [00:21:00] Oh, the Spirit against the flesh. [00:21:05] So is the Spirit lasting against the flesh? [00:21:08] No, but the Spirit is God. That's the Spirit of God. So what spirit lasts against the flesh? [00:21:17] Isn't it the human spirit? [00:21:19] Wouldn't you be comparing how your human spirit, the spirit of God that is now infused with the Holy Spirit of God that is now in you, is having a tug of war with the voice of your flesh. The flesh here is talking about the voice of your flesh, your senses. [00:21:37] So is it okay for us to put a capital letter S there? Or should we put a small letter s there like 1 Corinthians, chapter 14 from verse 15. [00:21:45] Okay, the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and it says, and the Spirit against the flesh. [00:21:55] And these are contrary the one to the other, so that you, you, you are. [00:22:05] So he's talking to you. So now that now is key because it now shows you that this is not capital letter S. Spirit here, this is now is referring to small letter S, because he's talking about you. [00:22:18] So that you cannot do the things that you would. Okay, so clearly verse 16 is capital letter S. We've qualified that. That. That lands verse 17, that cannot be capital letter S. But the translator kind of like, yeah, it's kind of. [00:22:37] Okay, this is, this is. [00:22:39] This is studying. What, what, what level of studying of the Word is this? [00:22:45] What level of spiritual understanding is this gets you to this level? [00:22:51] This is where the Spirit of God wants every child of God to be operating with. When you, when you, when you're studying the scriptures and you begin to see these things. [00:23:02] So now contextually it says that so that ye would do the things that you would. So that you would not, you cannot do the. You would. [00:23:10] So verse 17, he's talking about small letter S and says, but if ye be led of the Spirit you are not under the law. Ah. What spirit is he talking about now? He's talking about this one. What spirit? The spirit of the word. Now, this one is now capital letter S. He's now back. So now he's changing. He's using them interchangeably, but he's talking about different things. [00:23:34] But they're similar. [00:23:37] But the context is what gives it away is what gives you the understanding. [00:23:42] Okay? Says, but if ye be led of the spirit, then ye are not under the law. Oh, the law. Okay, the law of Moses and the spirit of Christ. Okay, so can that be capital letter S? Can we qualify it as capital letter S, as in the spirit of God and the law of Moses? [00:24:05] Okay, so we can qualify it as capital letter S. [00:24:11] The spirit of Christ. [00:24:13] Right, the spirit of Christ. [00:24:15] You are not under the law if you be led of the spirit of Christ, of the word of Christ. That is what he's referring to here. But if you be led of the word of the spirit of Christ, ye are not under the law of Moses. Okay, so now verse 18, we can say that. Okay, the spirit in verse 18, which is just. You'd find in the original Greek, would just be numa. So in both these. In all these three verses, we're just saying numa, numa, numa. But now the context and how he communicates is. Now, what gives you what he's referring to? Is it the spirit of God? Is it just a ghost? Or. Or is it the spirit of a man with the recreated human spirit? Okay, but here we can see that in verse 17, he's talking to the recreated human spirit. And then in verse 16 and 18, he's talking to the spirit of God, the spirit of Christ. And then now we come to verse 19. [00:25:11] Now, the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these? Oh, the works of the flesh. What is the flesh? We're talking about the voices of your senses, the lust. When it says the lust of the flesh, it's talking about the cravings. Okay? That word lust, you know, in our generation or in recent generations, has been very sexualized. But the original Greek there is just talking about desires, the desires of the flesh, the cravings of the flesh. All right? And it's more than just sex. The flesh craves a lot of things. [00:25:39] All right? You know what those things are for some people, more than others, it could be sex. But for some people, it's something else. For some people, it's food. But for some people, there are many things that the flesh has been that the world has used to train Our flesh to be dependent on. [00:25:58] So he's saying that those cravings, that's what he's actually dealing with here. Okay. [00:26:05] Okay, so verse 19. Now, the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these. Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings. Okay, that's the list. Okay, we'll get into those and the definitions of those in a short while. But I just want to show you something else about this thing that I've been trying to. This exercise that I went through with you of trying to figure out. Okay, Is it the human spirit, the recreated human spirit, small letter S, the spirit of God, capital letter S? And you see, when you study a lot of your translations. But now I'm using the King James Version because that's the one that I used for my primary study. Even as I. Even as I go into the Greek and the Hebrew, I like the King James Version is probably the closest one to that, communicates closest what the original Greek and the Hebrew was actually saying than your other translations. All right, Your other. Your newer translations, these are with modern English translation, like the Gen Z translation, whichever translation. These newer version translations, all right, you find that they were all translated from another translation. [00:27:25] They were not being translated from the Greek. [00:27:28] A lot of them were translations of the King James Version. A lot of them are translations that are coming from the new King James Version. So a lot of things, sometimes they get missed. They get lost in translation. [00:27:41] Okay. But the. The broader message is clear, but there are certain specific details that will get lost in these translations. Right? So that's why I usually prefer to stick to the King James Version. Okay, so now just to show you, like, a lot of the mistakes that these translators of the King King James Version made regarding the. [00:28:04] Using the context to understand. Is this a small letter S is a capital letter S. All right, I'll show it to you here. First Corinthians Chapter two before we continue. [00:28:13] Okay. So you see these errors. You know, the more you study, you start to see these small, tiny errors. But then the spirit of God will re. Will give you understanding and show you that. Oh, no, this is what it is here. But I think in First Corinthians Chapter two is a. A lot more blatant. [00:28:29] It's a lot more blatant. Should I start there or should I start in? [00:28:37] Should I start in? Okay, let me start there. [00:28:40] All right, First Corinthians Chapter two. [00:28:45] I'LL read from verse nine. But as it is written, eye has not seen nor ear heard, neither has entered into the heart of man. The things that God has prepared for, them that love Him. [00:28:55] But God has revealed them unto us by His Spirit. Capital letter S. See that? All right, then it says, for the Spirit. Okay, remember what he was saying. Remember we're reading Galatians chapter. Just keep Galatians chapter 5 from verse 16. [00:29:10] That part of the scripture. Just keep it at the back of your mind as we go through this, all right? Because I want to show you something. Okay? [00:29:19] Okay, so you get a bonus of First Corinthians chapter Shinki's commentary on First Corinthians, chapter two. [00:29:26] A bit of First Corinthians chapter two. You get it Here. [00:29:30] Okay. But God has revealed them unto us by His Spirit. Capital letter S. Correct. Okay, for the Spirit. [00:29:39] Is that the Spirit? [00:29:42] Capital letter S. Ah. Are you sure it's capital letter S? [00:29:46] Okay, let's read what he says this Spirit is doing. For the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God. Hold up, hold up, hold up. [00:29:56] The Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God. Why is it capital letter S, the Spirit, that God? That. That wouldn't make sense. That wouldn't make spiritual sense. [00:30:09] Because the Spirit doesn't need to search all things, yea, the deep things of God, the Spirit of God. If it is capital letter S, that Spirit is God. [00:30:20] He is God. So he doesn't need to search the deep things of God. He is God. The Spirit of God. You need to. [00:30:25] The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of. He is God. He doesn't need to search the deep things of God. He already knows them. Because he is God. Okay, so for the Spirit, there, that has to be small letter S. [00:30:40] So it's small letter S referring to the Spirit of a man. The human spirit. The recreated human spirit. [00:30:46] Your recreated human spirit. [00:30:49] Small letter S searches all things, yea, the deep things of God, or the deep things of the Spirit of God. [00:30:58] Okay, so now that you're in Christ, now that you're born again, now that the Spirit of God is now in you, you been filled with the Holy Spirit. Now your recreated human spirit now begins to search the deep things of. The deep things of the Spirit of God that is now in you. [00:31:17] That is the. That is the recreated human spirit. But they put capital letter S there. So you see these things? Okay, okay. Shingi, how do you. Okay, let's finish the context. How did you come up with that conclusion? Hey, see some of us. We didn't just wake up and open the Bible, you know, just open the Bible and decided that we've been coming for decades with this thing. [00:31:44] I have been in the scriptures for decades, okay? I've been fellowshipping with the Scriptures for decades. Oh, yeah? Yeah. In fastings and prayers and fellowshiping and meditations and studies of the Word of God. [00:31:58] Oh, one day I'll tell you stories about my stories of studying the Word, you know, many, many years ago, 2001. What were you doing? 2001? 2001. 2000. [00:32:10] Yeah. We had already started fellowshiping with the scriptures, so we. So now, when you see us now talking the Word, teaching the Word in this way, we didn't just wake up like two, three years ago and started doing this thing. We've been at it for decades, all right? Some of you were, but some of us, we were in this thing. So now we can now speak authoritatively regarding these things because the Holy Spirit has raised us up over the years to have superior understanding, to have a high level of understanding of the scriptures. So now we can see these things very easily. [00:32:46] Okay? [00:32:47] So in case you're just wondering, like, where does this guy fall from? [00:32:51] I didn't fall. I didn't start yesterday. I didn't start last year. I didn't start five years ago. I didn't even start 10 years ago. So don't even try and go there. Okay? Let's get back to the Word. [00:33:01] Okay? All right, so it says, for the spirit. Now that is supposed to be small letter S, because it's the Spirit, the recreated human spirit that searches the deep things of the Spirit of God that you, you are that is now one with you, that has now come and filled you. [00:33:18] All right? So now when you're born again, your recreated human spirit, your born again human spirit is now filled with the Holy Spirit. And that now your human spirit now is the one that searches the deep things of the Spirit of God that is now in you. [00:33:32] The Spirit of God does not need to search the deep things of God because he is God. Can't you get the spiritual sense of this? [00:33:39] Okay, but the text will prove it. Let's continue. [00:33:44] Verse 11. [00:33:45] For what? Man. Ah, you see, what man knows the things of a man save the spirit of a man which is in him. [00:33:55] So basically what he's saying is that the only things that the spirit of man knows is the things of the spirit of man that is in him. [00:34:01] So now that spirit of a man is the one that now needs to search the deep Things of God by searching by the spirit of God that is now filled him. [00:34:09] So it's his spirit that now searches the deep things of God, not the Holy Spirit. So the capital letter S was never supposed to be there. [00:34:19] What man knows the things of a man save the spirit of a man which is in him. And it says, even so, the things of God knows no man. That's why that spirit of. [00:34:29] That's why that spirit of a man. That is why it is capital small letter S. That is why that small letter S. Spirit of Spirit. The Spirit searches all things. Why? Because here he explains here contextually. Even so, the things of God knows no man but the Spirit of God. [00:34:50] So why would it be capital letter S there when verse 11 now shows you this thing and he disting. Now he shows you what he's talking about. [00:35:00] He's talking about the spirit of God and the spirit of a man. [00:35:03] And then he's saying that the spirit of man does not know the things of God. So it's the spirit of man that is the one that is supposed to be searching the deep things of God. And it doesn't make spiritual sense for the spirit of God to search the deep things of God. So that capital letter S was never supposed to be there. And it throws people off. But unless the Spirit of God gives you understanding, you won't see it. You just go with what is written there. You see, it's in the Bible. But you need to study and verify, okay? By the Spirit. [00:35:31] Okay, let's continue. It says, even so this, the things of God. The things of God, says the Spirit. Verse 10. For the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God. Verse 11. Even so, the things of God knows no man but the Spirit of God. So you cannot say that. For the Spirit searches all things. Is capital letter S the Spirit of God here? Because he tells you in verse 11 that the Spirit of God is the one that knows those things. And it's the spirit of a man that doesn't know those things. [00:36:00] So it's the Spirit of man that needs to search those things. So what he's telling you there that in verse 10 that is supposed to be a small letter S. [00:36:07] Okay, and then in verse 11, even so, the things of God knows no man but the Spirit of God. Ah, so that is a capital letter S, verse 12. Now we have received not the Spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are freely given to us. [00:36:26] Okay, you get it now. Okay, so now there he was interchangeably. He was using them between the two. He was swapping between the two. All right, Capital letter S referring to the Spirit of God, small letter S referring to the spirit of a man. And then when you come to Galatians, chapter five, here you see the same play of words when he says, walk in the Spirit, for the flesh lasts against the spirit. Ah, capital letter S. Lust against the spirit. Really? The flesh lasts against us. The flesh lasts against the spirit. Capital letter S. The flesh lasts against God. Is that what you're saying? [00:37:01] When the Bible already tells you in Genesis, when the Lord said In Genesis chapter 6 says, My spirit shall not always strive with man, he says, my spirit shall not always strive with me. Okay, he's already said that in Genesis chapter six now and then he says that against the spirit, the flesh last and the spirit against. No, he says he's not going to strive with men already. [00:37:24] Okay, so now what does this mean? [00:37:26] This has to be small letter S, because now he's talking about the voice of your body versus the voice of your recreated human spirit. The desires of your body versus the desires of your recreated human spirit. So verse 17 here is supposed to be smaller than S. It says, and the spirit against the flesh, that is the recreated human spirit. Okay? And it says, and these are contrary the one to the other. He's comparing two things that are in competition with one another. The Spirit of God is not in competition with your flesh, but your recreated human spirit is the one that is fighting with the voice of your senses to dominate your senses so that you can be led of the spirit, so that you can walk in the Spirit, and so that you do not fulfill the desires, the cravings, the leading of the flesh, the leading of the voice of your senses. Do you get it? [00:38:21] Verse 18. But if you are led of the spirit. Now he's talking. That's now capital letter S. [00:38:26] Because now he's comparing the spirit of Christ, the spirit of God, which is the Spirit of the word of Christ, which is the Spirit of the Word that is in the epistles. Then he says, then you are not under the law, the law of the word, the word of the law of Moses. So now he shows you in verse 18 what he's comparing there, the two things he's comparing there. But here he's comparing the flesh and the spirit. He's talking about the recreated human spirit and the flesh, which is your body. So those two, there's a basis for the comparison of those two, but there's no basis of Comparison between the voice of your flesh, your body, and the spirit of God. They don't need to be compared because the spirit of God is in his own class. He is God. He cannot be compared to your flesh. [00:39:07] But your recreated human spirit, right, the spirit of a man, as First Corinthians chapter two described him, right. [00:39:16] Can be compared to the voice of your senses, of your flesh, the voice of your recreated human spirit. The desires of your recreated human spirit are in direct conflict with the voice of your flesh. So there he tells you that he's talking here about your recreated human spirit and not the spirit of God. So it should not be capital letter S there. [00:39:37] Welcome to Shingi's Bible Commentary. [00:39:45] Okay, all right, all right. Romans chapter 8. In case somebody else is struggling. [00:39:54] Romans chapter 8. [00:39:56] You see, if there's so many things in the Bible, you know, so many beautiful things in the Bible, okay, Just to help somebody else, you know, who's struggling with this, let's look at another scripture before we get into. [00:40:11] We get into verse 19. [00:40:15] All right, I'll read from verse six. It says, for to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is the life of peace. No, let me start from verse 5. Says, for they that are in the flesh. [00:40:25] Ah, now he's talking about two different types of people, two categories of people. Here in discussion here, those that are in the flesh and those that are in the spirit. So who is he talking about now? Here, clearly he's talking about those that are born again and those that are not. And then he says, those that are not born again, they're in the flesh. Okay, let's. Let's read it. I don't want to, like, spoil it for you. Let's see what the text says. [00:40:48] For they that are in the flesh do mind the things which of the flesh. That means that they do mind the things of the senses. [00:40:54] Right? They follow their senses. They are led by their senses. What they see, what they smell, what they feel, what they touch, whatever their body tells them, they're going in that direction. [00:41:08] All right? Okay. And then he says, but they that are after the spirit. After the spirit. Ah, there is that word, the spirit. Walk in the spirit. Now, is this capital letter S or small letter S here? We can qualify it as capital letter S. [00:41:25] This because he's referring to the word, the spirit of the word. The spirit of the Word of Christ. [00:41:32] They that are after the spirit. That means you're born after the spirit. [00:41:38] Okay, so those that are born after the flesh, that means that these are products of the flesh. That means that these are, these are just natural human beings. They are born after the flesh. [00:41:51] Okay, when you study John chapter one. [00:41:55] We study John chapter one. We read from verse 12 and then it says, it talks about those who are born not, you know, of the will. Says, those who are born not of the will of man, okay, but of the will of God. This is what he's referring to here. [00:42:10] Okay, Those that are born after the flesh. Those that are after the flesh. It's talking about those that are born after the flesh. That means you're just born into this world. Then there are those that are after the spirit. Those are the ones that are born again. [00:42:22] Right? So they are born after the Spirit of God. Okay, so that is what he's referring to here. And it says, for to be carnally minded is death. [00:42:32] There's so much I can say about that. But you'll have to wait for Shingi's Bible commentary, Romans chapter 8. [00:42:38] Okay, by the grace of God, we'll do it. Okay, it says, for to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So they that are in the flesh. [00:42:53] Ah, they that are in the flesh. Oh, this is a category of people that is distinguishing here. They that are in the flesh says cannot please God. [00:43:03] Verse 9. Okay, who are these? [00:43:07] But ye are not in the flesh. Okay, I'm not in the flesh. [00:43:11] I'm not in the flesh. So Now Galatians, chapter 5, verse 19 and verse 20 and verse 21 to 22 and to 23, they're going all the way to 26 will now make sense to you, okay, because you know what he was talking about. It gives you greater understanding of what the Apostle Paul was talking about there in Galatians says, but you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit. Ah, you are in the Spirit. [00:43:39] Okay, what is he talking about? Is it capital letter S or small letter S says if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. So now he's talking about the capital letter S in the Spirit. Because he's talking about the Spirit of God. And the word of the Spirit of the of Christ. The word of the Spirit of God. [00:43:55] You are in the Spirit of God. [00:44:00] So he says, you are in the Spirit. If so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now, if any man have not the spirit of Christ, you see the spirit of Christ. So now he's telling you that there when he's talking about. He's talking about the Spirit of Christ. [00:44:14] That's why it's capital letter S there, okay? Says he is none of his. [00:44:20] This is. And if Christ be in you, I would like to explain this verse to people. Oh, my goodness. But Shingi's Bible commentary, Romans, chapter eight, you're gonna have to wait for it. Okay, let's go back. Okay, so keep that at the back of your mind as we go back to Galatians, chapter five. Now, it will make a lot more sense to a lot of people now, okay? Verse 19. Now, the works of the flesh, okay? The works of the flesh. [00:44:47] The works of the flesh. [00:44:49] For they that are. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the Spirit. The things of the Spirit. Remember what he said there. What are we doing? We're letting Scripture, interpret Scripture, okay? We're not coming up with our own conclusions. [00:45:05] All right, Scripture, then. He says, but you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit. If so be that the Spirit of God dwells in you. Okay, so now, who is it referring to here? Now, when it comes to now, the works of the flesh are manifest. [00:45:23] Who is he referring to? Those that are not in Christ, These are their works. [00:45:31] Those that are not in Christ, these are their works. [00:45:34] Because he said in verse nine of Romans chapter eight, but you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit. You're in the Spirit of Christ. You're in the word of the Spirit of Christ, and you live according to the word of the Spirit of Christ or the Spirit of God, if so be that the Spirit of Christ dwells in you, if the Spirit of God dwells in you, you are not in the flesh. [00:46:04] So now when he says the works of the flesh are manifest, these are the ones that are. That are. That are not Christ's. [00:46:15] Which are these? [00:46:17] Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings and such like of the. Which I tell you before, and as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. They which do such things. So here he's not talking to Christians because he already told you that you, if you have the Spirit of God in you, you are not in the flesh. [00:46:52] So these are not your works, okay? These are not your works. [00:46:58] He's talking about the flesh, the flesh Those that do not have the spirit of Christ in them. [00:47:16] Okay, then says the fruit. Okay, now let's go to verse 22. But the fruit of the Spirit. Ah, is it capital letter S here? [00:47:30] Is this capital letter S? [00:47:35] No, it cannot be capital letter S, because the Spirit of God is God. He doesn't need fruit. [00:47:46] Who told people that the Spirit of God needs to produce fruit? The Spirit of God doesn't produce fruit. The Spirit of God. [00:47:53] The Spirit of God is God. God doesn't need to produce fruit. [00:48:00] You are the one that needs to produce fruit. Shingi, how can you say that? How can you say that? [00:48:20] How could. Okay, let's, let's, let's, let's hear what the word says. Let's look at what the word says, what we're here to do so that. Because I can say a lot of things and you can say, yeah, he just said this. No, let's, let me read rather. [00:48:33] This is where I'm operating nowadays. I just read the scripture and then it'll, it's self explanatory. [00:48:39] John, chapter 15, verse 1. I am the vine and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he taketh away. [00:48:53] And then he says, and every branch that beareth fruit he purges it, that it may bring forth much fruit. [00:49:05] Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. That's verse three, John, chapter 15, verse four. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine, so it is not capital letter S. Because the Spirit of Christ is Christ, he is God, he is the vine, he is not the branch. [00:49:33] The branch is the fruit bearing part of the tree. [00:49:37] And the Spirit of God is not the branch. You clearly say there that he is the vine, he's the bark, he's the stem. [00:49:48] And then it says, we are the branches. Okay, let me, let's finish. [00:49:52] Okay. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself. He didn't say that I cannot bear fruit through you. No, he's saying that you as the branch cannot bear fruit. So it says, the fruit of the Spirit. What spirit Spirit is it? It's the recreated human spirit. It's not the Spirit of God. Capital letter s. [00:50:12] Verse 5. I am the vine, ye are the branches. [00:50:18] There you have it. [00:50:20] He that abides in me and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit, for without me you can do nothing. [00:50:33] Verse 8. [00:50:35] Herein is my Father, who is the Father of Jesus is the Spirit of God. [00:50:40] Says herein is my Father glorified, that you, you, you, you bear. It didn't say that. That the Father may bear fruit in you. No. Look at the communication. That you bear much fruit, so shall ye be my disciples. [00:51:02] As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Continue you in my love. [00:51:09] So the fruit bearing part of the vine is the branches. It's not the spirit of God. [00:51:18] So it is not capital letter S. Yef, the fruit of the recreated human spirits. So now it goes back to those that what we were discussing in Galatians chapter 16 to verse 18. [00:51:31] Okay, so now he is talking about the recreated human spirit. The Holy Spirit doesn't need to produce fruit because he is God. He's the vine and we are the branches. We are the fruit bearing part of the vine. [00:51:44] We are the branches, we are the one. The Holy Spirit is not the Holy Spirit. They are producing fruit. [00:51:52] So there is referring to us as the recreated human spirit, the fruit of the recreated human spirit. I've got a whole teaching about fruits of the spirit and bearing fruit that I'll do maybe on Triumph. [00:52:12] So the fruit of the recreated human spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness. That is us, our recreated human spirit, we produce that fruit. And then there are those that are in the flesh, those that are in the flesh, those that are in the flesh, those that are after the flesh. [00:52:41] Says, if the Spirit of Christ, if the Spirit of God dwells in you, then you are not in the flesh. [00:52:48] Okay, so he's comparing who we are as born again children of God that are the fruit bearing part of the vine, which is Jesus Christ and the Spirit of God and the Father and his Father, not the seed. Spirit of God bearing fruit. [00:53:09] No, he is God. He doesn't need to bear fruit. We are the ones that bear that. The Bible says bear fruit. [00:53:15] God doesn't need to bear fruit. We are the ones that need to bear fruit. Our recreated human spirit is the one that needs to bear fruit. [00:53:21] So now, contextually and scripturally, letting scripture, interpret scripture, we get to understand that, oh, the fruit of the spirit cannot be capital letter S, it is small letter S. [00:53:36] Because we are the fruit bearing part. Our recreated human spirits are the fruit bearing part. [00:53:42] The spirit of God is not the fruit bearing part of the vine. [00:53:48] Ah, yeah, yeah. [00:53:52] Okay, let's get back to verse 19. We want to get into all these. Adultery. What is adultery? Okay, let's get into the Greek words of these terms so that people can know exactly what the Spirit of God is communicating Here. [00:54:03] All right, so now what is he comparing? Basically what I'm saying that he's. The basis of comparison is that there is the leading. There's the voice, there's the recreated human spirit that has been born again, okay? And there's the fruit that he produces, okay? And that's listed in verse 22, Galatians, chapter 5. And he's comparing that with those that are in the flesh. [00:54:28] They are not being led, they are not born again. They are being led by the flesh. They are being led by their senses. When we say flesh, we are talking about the senses, the body and the voice of your body. The voice of your body. The cravings of your body, the desires of the flesh. The desires. The voice of the desires of your body. [00:54:48] There are people that are dominated by the voice of the desires of their body. [00:54:53] And they're not led or directed. And they do not walk. And they're not directed by the what? By the cravings of the recreated human spirit. The recreated human spirit craves the things of God. The recreated human spirit craves the word of God. The recreated human spirit craves the infilling of the spirit of God. The presence of God. [00:55:17] The recreated human spirit craves love. It walks in love. It produces love. [00:55:23] Hey. It produces joy. It produces peace. [00:55:28] Oh, my goodness. [00:55:31] Patience. Gentleness. Goodness. Faith, Meekness, Temperance. [00:55:36] And then it says, against such there is no law. [00:55:41] Okay, let's get into the definitions of this adultery. What is he talking about? [00:55:45] The works of the flesh, which are these? Adultery. [00:55:49] The Greek word there is moikei. [00:55:52] Moikei. So moikei there we'll be talking is adultery. [00:55:57] And then that is self explanatory Moikei. [00:56:08] And then the other word is after adultery is fornication. [00:56:21] And the Greek word there is porneia, which is illicit sexual intercourse. It can also be all encompassing to adultery. And all those things, those are the works of the flesh, okay? [00:56:34] These are the cravings of the flesh. [00:56:37] The desire is telling you that these are the things that the flesh desires. Adultery, fornication. The flesh desires these things. [00:56:46] Okay, so porneia is talking about all these illicit sexual intercourse, adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbian, all these, you know, sexual perversion acts. [00:57:02] All right, that is what is. [00:57:05] Or some, in some places it is translated sexual immorality. [00:57:09] So it's a broad term encompassing all sexual activity outside of marriage, including prostitution. So it's porneia and prostitute in the Greek, that ancient Greek was porne. That was the Greek term for it. Okay, and when you're talking about the cultural Greco Roman culture, it's talking about seculativity with prostitutes and slaves was. It was socially acceptable at the time. You know, like we can also see now where in some communities it's socially acceptable even now. And then, you know, when you're talking, when you. Paul's Jewish background and Christian ethics, all right? His teaching demanded exclusive marital fidelity, all right, which was regarded also as. During that Greco Roman culture, it was regarded as counter cultural, you know, especially with male behavior. [00:58:10] Men were, you know, in that context, they could, you know, just explore their sexuality however they wanted. Okay? So he says those are the works of the flesh, the desires, the cravings of the flesh. Then remember, if you're born again, if you are born again, this is not you. [00:58:31] This is not you because he already told you that if you are, you are not in the flesh but in the spirit, if the spirit of God dwells in you. So this is not talking about you. [00:58:46] Okay? So don't identify yourself. [00:58:49] How do you walk in the spirit so that you do not fulfill the cravings of the flesh? [00:58:56] And these works of the flesh, first you need to identify, look from those scriptures and see who you are. Okay, this is. Oh, this is not me now. So the word of God is telling me that this is not me. Why? Because I have the spirit of God in me. I am not in the flesh. I'm in the spirit. [00:59:15] Okay? [00:59:17] So this is not. I shouldn't be doing this. So that's how, that's, that's the beginning. That's how you begin to now walk in the spirit. [00:59:31] Okay, and then it says uncleanness. What's the next one? [00:59:38] Adultery, fornication, uncleanness. Okay, uncleanness is talking about akatasia. That's the Greek word, akatasia, uncle or impurity or not clean. [00:59:53] And it, that one, uncleanness is just talking about just having some people their thoughts, man. [01:00:05] Some people just don't have clean thoughts. They just don't think pure thoughts or clean thoughts about others. [01:00:12] Everything their thoughts, they just perverted thoughts. But if you're in Christ, that is not you. You got to have excellent thoughts. I have excellent thoughts, all right? I only think excellent things. I only think excellent things about people. [01:00:27] Oh, okay, all right, so now that is that word akatasia, that is talking about moral impurity. You would just want to avoid everything that comes to your mind has to do with violating another person. [01:00:48] You know, anything that can bring harm to the next person. [01:00:52] That is that word akathasia. [01:00:56] Okay, so he's talking about your moral conscience, your moral compass and how you think and view other people. [01:01:14] As a Christian, you cannot be participating in. You have to renew your. [01:01:20] You have to now. That's why it says walk in. Walk in the Spirit. [01:01:26] So now how do you begin to walk in the Spirit? You now need to begin to go to the Word. Like as you're going into the Word right now in Shingi's Bible commentary, coming here and looking into the Word so that you can see, okay? Ah, this is not me anymore. Okay? Why? Because I have the Spirit of God in me. All right? I am not. I am in the Spirit. So now I need to walk in the Spirit. Okay? Because verse 25, Galatians 5, 25, it says if we live in the Spirit. Yes. So now we identify that we live in the Spirit. Why? Because we have the Spirit of God in us. And then he says, let us also walk in the Spirit. [01:02:00] That means walk in the Word. [01:02:03] Okay, if you've been following and did you read verse 24? Okay, we'll get there. Let me finish. Let me go through this. Otherwise we won't finish here. We need to Finish Galatians Chapter 5 today in this episode. [01:02:16] Okay, what's the next one? [01:02:19] Lasciviousness. Sensuality. [01:02:21] That is. That means. That is talking about outrageous conduct. [01:02:29] Excessive. Excessive, excessive conduct. [01:02:36] With. With a lack of self control. [01:02:39] All right? [01:02:40] There's no self control whatsoever. [01:02:44] Everything like what? However your. Your body feels at the time. Ah, that is it. And it's excessive shame. Shameless excess. [01:02:54] All right? [01:02:55] Whether it's sexual, whether it is food, whether it is alcohol, whatever is. Whether it is. Whether whatever it is is lasciviousness. [01:03:07] Okay? And that Greek word there is, which means an untamed desire that. A desire that cannot be tamed. It cannot be quenched. You cannot help yourself. There are some guys, they just cannot help themselves. [01:03:25] There are some ladies, they're just consumed. They cannot help themselves even if they wanted to. They can't. [01:03:32] That is word lasciviousness. [01:03:35] It is a shamelessness in wanting to fulfill desire. [01:03:40] A ruthlessness in trying to fulfill what you want. The cravings of your body. [01:03:46] Nothing can stop you from indulging in that buffet. [01:03:55] Some people, they would go. The greed and the. The shameless desire. This shameless ambition to want to enrich themselves at the compromise and at the expense of other people, of human life so that they can fulfill those fleshly desires, those fleshly cravings. [01:04:19] Okay? That's lasciviousness. Asalgeia. Okay, so it says it's behavior that is so excessive, it shocks even pagan sensibilities. [01:04:30] Okay, verse 20. With what? Idolatry. [01:04:35] Okay, let's go through it quickly. Idolatry. [01:04:39] And that's from the Greek word idolatry, okay? Worshiping of false gods, of the foremost, sacrificial feasts, all kinds of, you know. [01:04:52] And you find that some Christians, because they're not being taught that, no, this is no longer you. They still indulge in idolatry, okay? And a lot of what, you know, certain people call, yeah, this is our culture. This is our tradition is idolatry. A lot of. A lot of these cultures, especially here in Africa, where I am, a lot of these traditions and what they call. This is our culture. [01:05:16] That idol. That idol worship has been engraved in those. [01:05:20] It's now a part of the culture, the identification of their culture. And they say, no, no, no. Yes, I'm a Christian, but this is my culture. And they continue to indulge in idolatry. It's a big, big, big problem in. In Africa, especially where. [01:05:42] Where I'm from, where I come from, okay? That's idolatry, Image, worship service. No, we must go. You got a job. You must go to the village and slaughter something. You must go to. You must give an offering. No, you are not in the flesh. [01:05:59] You are in the spirit. If so, be that the spirit of God lives in you. [01:06:05] Okay, the other one, witchcraft. And the Greek word there is pharmakeia, the use or administering of drugs, potions or poisoning, sorcery, magical arts, pharmakeia. [01:06:23] Okay? There's a lot that can be said about that. [01:06:25] All right? That is witchcraft. Those are the works of the flesh. [01:06:30] And then the next one is hatred. [01:06:33] Hatred. [01:06:37] Some versions will say enmities, okay? [01:06:44] And the Greek word there is ektrai, that is hostilities, feuds, personal. [01:06:51] Like you have personal vendettas. You have. You've got special scores. You want to. You've got scores to settle with others. You hate people. [01:07:02] You hate what they did to me. And then you develop there's a passion to hate the person. [01:07:08] Those are. That's not you, child of God. That's not you, child of God. [01:07:13] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And the other one is variance or strife. [01:07:17] And the Greek word there is aries, which means discontention, quarreling, you know, you just want to quarrel, you know, Those are the works of the flesh. Just quarreling, like, for no reason. [01:07:30] Quarreling, strife, variance. [01:07:33] That is excessive competition. [01:07:36] Like, if somebody is doing something, you have to now go and challenge the person so that. Those are the works of the flesh. [01:07:48] You have this burning desire to compete with the next person and beat them. It's got nothing to do with you, but you just don't like the person. So whatever you must do, I must do this. So I must get this so that I can, I can, I can, I can be better than that person. [01:08:02] Carnal works of the flesh. [01:08:09] All right, what's the next ones? Emulations. Is that it? [01:08:14] Hatred. Variants. [01:08:17] Okay, yeah, we did that. [01:08:19] And then emulations. So emulations is zealous. That means that a fervor, a jealousy, like fervent jealousy. [01:08:33] You just cannot let other people go ahead without you feeling why. [01:08:46] So you, you, you, you, somebody, something happens, someone, you see someone going up, but then you, you're just not happy for that person. [01:08:54] You're just not happy for that person. [01:09:03] And then what's the next one? [01:09:05] That is emulations. That's jealousy, okay? The next one is wrath. Outburst. This is rage, okay? [01:09:11] Anger. Rage. Passionate outbursts of anger, okay? [01:09:18] And then the next one is strife. [01:09:21] Selfish ambition. [01:09:23] Eritrea. [01:09:26] Selfish ambition. Self seeking. Selfish ambition. [01:09:31] Factitiousness. [01:09:36] Okay? And then the next one is decostasiae. Seditions, Divisions. [01:09:43] Divisions. You are just. You just want to divide. [01:09:47] Everywhere you go, you just want to cause division. [01:09:50] No, unity. You don't want people to come together. You don't want people to band together to support one another. You just want to divide. [01:09:58] Okay, and then the next one, that's seditions, right? And the next one is heresies. What is heresies? It's not heresies as in like the one that we now, the English now call heresies, as in the doctrine is faulty or there's a wrong doctrine, or it's. [01:10:15] Or you say something against God and you're a heretic or whatever. No, that's not what he's talking about. [01:10:20] So that Greek word heresis is talking about sects, right? You want to create your own sects, your own factions, okay? Just want to have your own factions. This is us. This is us. Nobody else is allowed here. [01:10:36] Okay? So it's not the technical meaning of heresy as a false doctrine, but this, the Greek word there, is talking about. [01:10:42] He's talking about people just never wanting to be. [01:10:47] To band together with others, to support others, for there to be unity. They just want to divide. [01:10:55] Those are the works of the flesh. Then the other one is what? Envyings. Envyings the works of the flesh. Jealousy. So now these, he's saying that if you are not born again, this is your life. [01:11:09] So think about your brother, your friend, all these people that are not born Again, this is you. You know them. You know them. You know how it is, all right? The word of God is defining them for you, okay? [01:11:23] This is. These are the things that direct their life until they get born again and the spirit of God comes to live in them. And then they now become those that are in the Spirit. [01:11:37] And then still after that. Now they need to be taught. Now you need to walk in the Spirit. How are you going to walk in the Spirit? First you need to find out, okay, what is walking in the Spirit? What does it mean for me, the one that now has the spirit of God in me? [01:11:51] That's where we get to verse 22. [01:11:55] Okay, but let's finish verse 21. Envyings, jealousy, ill will towards others, success, resentment of others, advantages. You just cannot stand that other people have got certain advantages because certain privileges, okay? If they have certain privileges, great, okay? But you are in Christ. You have the spirit of God in you, and God has got a plan for your life. Your destiny is glorious. So you be excited about that instead of worrying about what other. What's happening with other people. [01:12:27] Okay? That is envying. And then murders. That self explanatory, taking another person's life, killings, okay? And then drunkenness, intoxication. [01:12:37] Okay? And then this is consumption of wine or drink. When we talk about the cultural context of this consumption of wine to the point where the person loses rationality and control, okay? That is drunkenness. [01:13:00] Okay, all right, and then the next one is revelings. [01:13:06] That is like wild parties, okay? Wild drunken parties and festive processions. [01:13:14] All right, that is talking about revelings. Okay, all right, and then now we go to the next one, verse 22. Okay? We. So I've already explained to you now what are the works of the flesh? Who are those that are in the flesh that are being described here? And then who are those that are now the fruit of the Spirit? Who are those that are in the Spirit? And what are the fruits of the Spirit as Jesus Christ described to us in John chapter 15? From verse 1, you can read all the way to verse 8. We are the fruit bearing part, all right. Of the body of Christ. [01:13:51] We are the fruit bearing part. It's not capital letter S, the fruit of the Holy Spirit or the Spirit of God. It's not the fruit of Hagios pneuma or this fruit of pneuma theos. [01:14:03] This is talking about the fruit of the recreated human spirit, the spirit of a man as was. As he was defined or as the Apostle Paul defined for us in First Corinthians, chapter Two. [01:14:13] Okay, so that's the one that bears fruit, that produces fruit, okay? [01:14:18] And it says. And that fruit is what? Love. [01:14:24] I walk in love. Glory to God. And then it says, joy. I'm always filled with joy. I'm always joyful. Glory to God. This is my life. [01:14:33] So now I'm looking at myself. I'm looking at the mirror. The word of God is the mirror. [01:14:36] Oh, so I've got. No, I've got. No, I don't concern myself from. With verse 19 to 21. [01:14:45] No. Because I've got the spirit of God in me. I am not in the flesh, I'm in the spirit because the spirit of God dwells in me. So now I focus on this. This is who I am as I look at the mirror. Oh, I'm full of love. I'm full of agape. That's agape. Hallelujah. The love of God. Then the other one is joy, gladness. [01:15:04] And that Greek word there is Kara. Okay, and what's the next one? Peace. That is Irene. All right, Tranquility. [01:15:12] Hallelujah. Divine tranquility. There's always peace in my life. Everywhere I go there's a peace, even though there's turmoil of things going on around me. Yeah, I'm that Jesus in the boat. While the boat is going crazy and there's a storm and Jesus is sleeping in the boat. [01:15:29] Ah, that is Irene. Okay, and then the other one is what? Long suffering. [01:15:36] Macro to my. [01:15:38] Macro to my. [01:15:40] All these Greek words, okay? So it's macro to my. Okay, Patience, Okay, Endurance. [01:15:47] Okay, so I'm patient. I'm patient. That's that word, what Long suffering. I'm patient. And the next one is gentleness. [01:15:56] That is Chraestotes, which is moral goodness, moral integrity. Not the one that has, like, just morally unclean. Okay? So now this is the one that is now of us who are in Christ, we have moral integrity, okay? We've got that kindness, useful. It's an excellence. [01:16:16] Ah, that is what? Gentleness and then goodness. [01:16:21] That is agotusene. That is uprightness of hearts. You got a pure heart, you got pure intentions, you got pure thoughts. Ah, it doesn't matter where you are in life, okay? You don't start looking at other people, like, with jealousy and envy and hate and all those horrible things that are not in your spirit, that are not a part of you, those are for those that are in the flesh. You have the spirit of God in you. Hallelujah. So there's gentleness in me, there's goodness in me. There's Patience and endurance. In me there's peace. In my life I produce. These are the fruits of my life. [01:17:03] There's meekness. [01:17:05] Oh, glory to God. That is humility. [01:17:09] Okay, there's humility, There is temperance in Critia, self control. So I have self control in Critia. That is temperance. And then it says, against such there is no law. Hallelujah. Against such there is no law but those that are in the flesh. So the law, what he's telling you is that the law of Moses was made for those that are after the flesh, those that are in the flesh. [01:17:37] That is what the law was made for. It was made for them. They didn't have the spirit of God in them, so God gave them the law. And then when God gave them the law, hallelujah. What happened? What happened is that, oh, the voice of the flesh even became louder and louder and louder. [01:17:55] Oh, glory to God. But then when Jesus Christ came, grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. The law came by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. Hallelujah. And now in. In there is no law for us. Why? Because in us our fruit is love. Glory to God. Love. Hallelujah. And then remember what he said. All the law is fulfilled in one word. Even in this. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. [01:18:23] Okay, okay. But now the fruit of the recreated human spirit, the born again human spirit, is love. [01:18:30] Okay. Don't forget it. It's not talking about the fruit of the Holy Spirit. [01:18:38] It's talking about the fruit of the recreated human spirit. [01:18:41] Hey, hey. [01:18:42] Then it says against such, against the recreated human spirit, there is no law. Why? Because inside of the recreated human spirit, the born again child of God, the one in whom the spirit of God dwells. Hallelujah. The one who belongs to Christ. Hallelujah. [01:18:59] There is love. [01:19:01] Hallelujah. There's joy, there's peace, there's patience, there's gentleness, there's goodness, there's faith. Faith. Hallelujah. [01:19:10] There's faith. When you come into my life, you experience the faith of God. You see faith. Hallelujah. [01:19:17] And it says meekness, humility, temperance, self control and critia. [01:19:23] Oh. And then it says, against such there is no law. [01:19:27] Okay, okay. Verse 24. [01:19:32] And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh. Ah, you see it there? [01:19:38] There we have it. [01:19:40] They that are Christ have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. I have crucified them because I'm in Christ. I have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts because I'm in Christ. I've crucified the flesh with all its affections and lust. So I'm not subject to hatred. I'm not subject. Hallelujah. I'm not subject to fornication. I'm not subject to adultery. I'm not subject. Hallelujah. Why? Because I've crucified as being crucified. Because I'm in Christ. I've crucified the flesh. [01:20:12] Glory to God. Verse 24. And they that are Christ have crucified. Didn't say they're going to or you should. Okay. This is how you walk in the Spirit. Just walk in the Spirit. That means that you now need to call things in accordance with the way the Word calls them. You now need to describe yourself in the way that the Word of God describes you. [01:20:33] So now, if the Word of God says that those that are Christ have crucified, that is you. So now what do you say? You take that word, Hallelujah. And then you begin to say, and to see yourself in that way. You say that I've crucified the flesh. I've crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. I've crucified the flesh because I'm in Christ. I've crucified the flesh because I'm in Christ. Ha ha ha ha ha. But you are not in the flesh. [01:21:00] Hallelujah. Romans chapter, Romans chapter 8 says, you are not in the flesh. Hallelujah. You are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit. If so, be that the Spirit of God dwells in you. [01:21:15] Hallelujah. [01:21:16] Does the Spirit of God dwell in you? You are not in the flesh. You are in the Spirit. [01:21:22] Joy is a part of your life. Joy is the fruit that your recreated human spirit produces. Love, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, humility, temperance. Hallelujah. This is your life. This is who you are. I have crucified the flesh because I am not in the flesh. [01:21:41] I am in the Spirit because the Spirit of God dwells in me. [01:21:48] Oh, glory to God. And they that are Christ have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. That's verse 24, verse 25. [01:21:57] If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. How do you walk in the Spirit? You look at the mirror of the Word of God. And the Word of God says that hey, listen, child of God. The fruit of your recreated human spirit is love. Oh, hallelujah. So you expect love. You walk. You say, oh, from the I walk in love. I produce Love. From my spirit I produce love. [01:22:19] Oh, joy, peace. Oh, glory to God. [01:22:23] Why? Because I am not in the flesh. I am not in the flesh. [01:22:28] Ah. Says, if we live in the spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. [01:22:33] Verse 26. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. [01:22:41] Oh, goodness. That's verse 26. Let us be desirous of vainglory. [01:22:47] He calls it vainglory. [01:22:51] That means that just, you know, boasting for no reason. [01:22:57] Boasting for no reason. [01:22:59] Okay, so don't do that. You don't have to boast for no reason. Provoking one another. [01:23:05] Right. And causing people to envy you and envying one another. [01:23:11] That's not you. [01:23:14] The fruit of your recreated human spirit. The fruit of your recreated human spirit. Now that you have the spirit of God living in you. [01:23:23] Amazing. Glory to God. Okay, that's Galatians chapter five. I'm going to end it here. Glory to God. I trust that you have learned something. [01:23:31] You've learned something. [01:23:34] You've learned something. Next up, we're going to get into Galatians chapter six. [01:23:40] Galatians chapter six is going to be so glorious. It's going to be so beautiful. That's the last chapter of Galatians, and then we'll be done with Galatians. Glory to God. [01:23:48] Yeah, yeah, yeah. Exciting stuff, Exciting stuff. And then we're going to move to the next epistle, which is going to be exciting. And I will make an announcement as to what we're going to be looking into when we are done with Galatians chapter six. So stay tuned for that one. [01:24:03] Okay? Stay tuned for that one. Glory, glory, glory, glory. So, you know, a lot of you people, you're listening to the Shingi's Bible commentary. If you've got any questions or whatever, just please put it in the comment section there. There's a comment section. Let's put your question there. [01:24:17] And we'll figure. We'll figure out one of these episodes where we can directly respond to those questions of anything here that you probably think. Okay, but, you know, this is what I think. Or whatever. You, you, you, you, you. Or maybe you'd like to add or ask or get more clarification on, because I shared a lot of things. We went through a lot of verses and we touched on a lot of things. Things, especially Galatians chapter 5 from verse 16 to that last part of Galatians chapter 5. [01:24:52] Yeah, the details there. If you really don't study and if you really don't lean in on the spiritual understanding and the understanding of the Spirit for you to rightly divide what is being referred to, especially when you start to use that word numa, numa a lot. [01:25:10] And you now have to rely on the context to try and figure out. And also rely on other scriptures to define for you what he could be referring to. Like, you see how he did it. Like, instead of trying to, like, come up with my own conclusion, I have to go back to a different writer where the Holy Spirit spoke about the same thing so that I can understand what he's saying here. Okay, so scripture, interpreting scripture, there is no prophecy of scripture that is of private interpretation. [01:25:40] Okay. So as you see me, the way that I interpret the scripture, I'm using other scriptures to interpret it, to understand the scriptures that I'm sharing with you. Okay, so. So yeah, so if you've got any questions or any scriptures that you want me to go back to, again, like I said, depending on how many questions that I get, I will look into any doing an episode specifically for that. [01:26:04] But that will be after we do Galatians chapter six. After we're done with Galatians, I'll give an opportunity for people to ask to send in their questions. [01:26:15] Okay. My name is Shingi. Catch me on Galatians chapter six. Wow, this was amazing. Galatians chapter five. Catch me on Galatians chapter six. [01:26:23] My name is Shingi. I love you. God bless you. And remember that this is your time. [01:26:53] Sa.
